First Wednesday -- How Lovell White Became the Father of Mill Valley: A New History (1797 - 1910) In-Person
As 1865 dawned, 37-year-old Lovell White was bankrupt, having financially succumbed to a failed mining venture. He and his wife, Laura Lyon White, had lost all three of their children to epidemics.
Phil Rhodes, local historian and Mill Valley native, will present newly available historical sources that will illuminate the story of how Lovell and Laura saved themselves and created the Mill Valley and Southern Marin we know today.
