DESCRIPTION:Looking for a safe space to read and discuss books about the 
 LGBTQIA  community? You've found us! In this monthly book club we'll read 
 both fiction and nonfiction books about the queer* experience\, the 
 intersectionality of queerness\, class\, religion\, and race\, and discuss 
 the ways in which things have changed\, remained the same\, or ways we can 
 affect the change we want to see. \n\nThis book club is open to anyone who 
 identifies as being part of or is supportive of the LGBTQIA  community. 
 \n\n*We acknowledge that the term queer has been used through the years as 
 both a pejorative term as well as a rallying cry. In an effort to be 
 inclusive\, we've decided to use it in accordance with modern definitions.

 1st Wednesday of every month on Zoom. To get the Zoom link please register 
 below.\n\nThis month we'll be discussing Friday\, I'm in Love by Camryn 
 Garrett.\n\nMahalia Harris wants.\n\nShe wants a big Sweet Sixteen like her 
 best friend Naomi.\nShe wants the super cute new girl Siobhan to like her 
 back.\nShe wants a break from worrying--about money\, snide remarks from 
 white classmates\, pitying looks from church ladies . . . all of 
 it.\n\nThen inspiration strikes: It's too late for a Sweet Sixteen\, but 
 what if she had a Coming Out Party? A singing\, dancing\, 
 rainbow-cake-eating celebration of queerness on her own terms.\n\nThe idea 
 lights a fire in her\, and soon Mahalia is scrimping and saving\, taking on 
 extra hours at her afterschool job\, trying on dresses\, and awkwardly 
 flirting with Siobhan\, all in preparation for the Coming Out of her

 unfinished schoolwork\, and enough drama to make her English Lit teacher
