Poetry Reading Series: Anthony Cody and Mai Der Vang In-Person
This Poetry Reading Series provides a unique opportunity to hear diverse and unusual sets of readers, pairing local Bay Area poets with visiting poets and writers. Registration Required.
Anthony Cody is the author of Borderland Apocrypha (Omnidawn). His debut has been awarded a 2021 American Book Award, a 2020 Southwest Book Award and a 2022 Whiting Award, as well as was recognized as a finalist for the National Book Award. He is from Fresno, CA with lineage in the Bracero Program and Dust Bowl and his forthcoming collection The Rendering (Omnidawn) is slated for Spring 2023. Anthony serves as a poetry editor for Omnidawn, collaborates with Juan Felipe Herrera and the Laureate Lab Visual Wordist Studio, is a visiting professor at the low-residency Creative Writing MFA at Randolph College, as well as co-publisher of Noemi Press.
Mai Der Vang is the author of Yellow Rain (Graywolf Press, 2021), a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and winner of the American Book Award, and Afterland (Graywolf Press, 2017), winner of the First Book Award of the Academy of American Poets. The recipient of a Lannan Literary Fellowship, her poetry has appeared in Tin House, the American Poetry Review, and Poetry, among other journals and anthologies. She teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Fresno State.
