The Great Train Heist: A discussion on the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit In-Person
Author Michael Coffino will be in conversation with Paul McHugh, former columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, to discuss his latest publication, The Great Train Heist: The California SMART Taxpayer Rip-off. Together, they will examine the origins and development of the SMART system, assess its financial and operational performance, and consider the structural issues the author identifies as limiting its effectiveness. Their discussion will also address his view that the project has fallen substantially short of its stated objectives and imposes significant and unjustified costs on Marin and Sonoma taxpayers.
