From Draft to Craft: POV and Perspective

From Draft to Craft: POV and Perspective In-Person

Each week we’ll focus on a particular craft point (setting, POV, dialogue, tension, etc.), using an illustrative novel, story, essay, or memoir excerpt. After discussing the excerpt, writers will be given several prompts to use as jumping-off points for their generative writing. After the generative session, participants will have the option to share what they’ve written and get feedback from the instructor and fellow workshop members.

About the instructor: Tanya Žilinskas is a first generation American living in Northern California. She is working on a novel about early internet hoaxes and the ethics of documentary filmmaking, and a California Gothic novel-in-stories set in a surreal version of Marin County. Her writing has been featured in a number of publications and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She earned her MFA from the University of San Francisco, where she was awarded the post-graduate teaching fellowship and has taught both fiction and non-fiction writing classes.
