25 Years Behind the Curtain In-Person
The City’s free Shakespeare troupe (Curtain Theatre) is celebrating its 25th season in Old Mill Park with a reimagining of its first production, "As You Like It," which draws inspiration from Mill Valley's founding in 1900 and the Bohemian tradition of the region. The play's director, dramaturg and other company members will discuss their vision and perform scenes and music from the show, which opens on August 9th.
Doyle Ott (director) is an emeritus faculty member in drama at Sonoma State and performs regularly with Medical Clown Project. He has performed and directed for circuses and theaters throughout the western US and presents circus research internationally. As Artistic Director of Children's Fairyland in Oakland, he created a professional theater program for 1-5 year olds. He is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner and wrote his doctoral dissertation on youth circus training.
Peter Bradbury (dramaturg) is a writer of fiction and poetry, a dramaturg and teacher. He was formerly a British academic at the Universities of London and Oxford with expertise in comparative literature and Shakespeare’s language, having written a thesis on Irony in Shakespeare's Sonnets. He now lives in the Bay Area and is happily a member of the Board of The Curtain Theatre.
Don Clark (music director) has played guitar and mandolin and led the Curtain band since the company's founding in 2000. He also composes tunes and songs for productions. He and spouse Michele Delattre perform with the Celtic folk band Luck Penny and the rock band Off the Record.
