Josh Healey emcees another Saturday night edition of true, live, storytelling featuring Jeff Greenwald, Claire Hennessy, Mighty Mike McGee, and Lauren Parker. Throw you name in the hat to tell a one-minute story in the Lightning Round.

ThumbnailJosh Healey, an award-winning writer, comedic performer, filmmaker, and creative activist, is the executive producer and writer for Offsides Productions, creating digital series and films with performers like Daveed Diggs, Sarah Silverman, and W. Kamau Bell that have reached over 15 million viewers. Healey wrote and produced seasons of The North Pole, a comedic digital series with Rosario Dawson and Boots Riley about gentrification, global warming, and gluten-free donuts. A regular on NPR’s Snap Judgment, he has been featured in the NYT, SF Chronicle, and his 13-year-old nephew Brian Silverstein’s Youtube page, where it has at least 27 ‘likes.’ Born and raised in Washington, DC, these days he eats his daily bagel in Oakland, CA.

 

Jeff Greenwald is the author of seven books, including Shopping for Buddhas and The Size of the World (for which he created the Internet’s first travel blog). His stories have appeared in Wired, Smithsonian, Outside, Craftsmanship, and the New York Times Magazine, and narrated on NPR’s Snap Judgment. Jeff’s critically acclaimed solo show, “Strange Travel Suggestions,” premiered in 2003.

 

 

 

British-born Claire Hennessy is co-founder/producer of Six Feet Apart Productions, producing online and in person storytelling shows. She was a recipient of a 2024 National Storytelling Network Oracle Award for leadership and excellence. She’s a GrandSlam finalist at The Moth & the National Storytelling Festival, plus featured teller at the 2024 Women’s ST Festival and St Louis ST Festival and 2023 Sacramento Valley Storytelling Festival. She produces/organizes the Bay Area Storytelling Festival and is a Board Member of the Storytelling Association of California.

 

 

Mighty Mike McGee is a well-traveled stand-up poet from downtown San José. He’s toured his poetry and humor approximately one million miles throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. His talents have been showcased on prestigious platforms such as HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, CBC Radio and Television, and NPR’s Snap Judgment, underlining his appeal to a broad audience, McGee was appointed Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County for 2018 & 2019. He produces and hosts events all over San José. For two decades, McGee has been a  poetry teacher to thousands of students throughout the Santa Clara Valley and beyond.

 

Lauren Parker is a fourth generation female breadwinner descended from male charlatans, and thus has grown up to become a very educated liar. She is a writer, zine maker, and visual artist and has written for the Toast, Strange Horizons, The Racket, Xtra Magazine, Catapult, and Autostraddle. She’s the author of the poetry collection We Are Now the Thing in the Woods (Bottlecap Press, 2023), The Dark Way Down (Animal Heart Press, 2025), and Spells for Success (Simon Element, 2025).
