Marin Poetry Center's Poetry Reading Series In-Person

Come on out and celebrate this bright, new year with some poetry, refreshments, and witty repartee! Marin Poetry Center and Mill Valley Public Library are proud to present James Cagney, Cheryl Dumesnil, and Connie Post—a trio of fabulous, Bay Area poets! Registration required.

 

James Cagney is poet and the author of Black Steel Magnolias In The Hour of Chaos Theory, (Nomadic Press, 2018), winner of the PEN Oakland 2019 Josephine Miles Award. His second collection, Martian: The Saint Of Loneliness, (Nomadic Press) was awarded the 2021 James Laughlin Award. James is a Cave Canem fellow who lives in Oakland. Cheryl Dumesnil’s books include poetry collections Showtime at the Ministry of Lost Causes and In Praise of Falling (winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize); a memoir, Love Song for Baby X: How I Stayed (Almost) Sane on the Rocky Road to Parenthood; and the anthology Dorothy Parker’s Elbow: Tattoos on Writers, Writers on Tattoos, co-edited with Kim Addonizio.

 

 

 

Connie Post’s work appears in Calyx, Slipstream, River Styx, Spoon River Poetry Review, and Verse Daily. Her awards include the Liakoura Award and Crab Creek Poetry Award. Her full-length collections include Floodwater, Prime Meridian and Between Twilight. Between Twilight was a finalist in the 2023 Best Book Awards. Her 2023 chapbook, Broken Metronome, won the American Fiction Award for a chapbook.
