Festival of Short Plays: Love Stories (Staged Reading) In-Person
The Playwrights Lab Shorts Festival of 10-minute plays returns! Six playwrights showcase the many light-hearted aspects of love with plays performed by leading Bay Area actors. Contributing playwrights Hal Gelb, Mercilee Jenkins, Lynne Kaufman, John Levine, Carry Pepper, and Martin Russel mix it up with plot twists, intrigue, and confessions.
Hopper's House by Hal Gelb. The manager of a Cape Cod gas station encounters a tourist looking for the house where Edward Hopper spent his summers, a house she unfortunately knows too much about.
Romo and Jul on the 'Scape by Mercilee Jenkins. A modern urban Romeo from a conservative family comes courting with sex on his mind, but his Juliet has other plans.
The Dark Lady by Lynne Kaufman. Anne Hathaway has gotten wind of the fact the Bard is writing sonnets for some dark lady, which means Will must find a way to deal with her suspicions.
Love's Labor by John Levine. A tv soap opera actress is upset by the writers strike, but then is doubly upset when it seems the dialogue for her character is being written by AI.
Unmatched by Cary Pepper. At a first, computer arranged, date, Alan keeps getting calls from another woman who'd like to meet up with him. But then, so does Beth -- from another man.
Highland Fling by Martin Russell. A young boy and girl are developing a lovely platonic relationship until the girl reveals she's slept with a man.
