Author Talk: Rita Chang-Eppig

Author Talk: Rita Chang-Eppig In-Person

The Mill Valley Library is pleased to present a talk with Bay Area author Rita Chang-Eppig in celebration of her debut novel, Deep as the Sky, Red as The Sea, about the infamous pirate queen of the South China Sea.

For readers of OutlawedPiranesi, and The Night Tiger, Deep as the Sky, Red as The Sea is a riveting, roaring adventure novel about a legendary Chinese pirate queen, her fight to save her fleet from the forces allied against them, and the dangerous price of power.

A book of salt and grit, blood and sweat, Deep as the Sky, Red as the Sea is an unmissable portrait of a woman who leads with the courage and ruthlessness of our darkest and most beloved heroes. Deep as the Sky, Red as the Sea was named a most anticipated novel by Goodreads, The Chicago Review of Books, The Rumpus, The Washington Post, and more.

The talk will be moderated by Anita Felicelli, author of Chimerica: A Novel and the award-winning short story collection Love Songs for a Lost Continent. Anita is on the Board of the National Book Critics Circle where she serves as Fiction Chair for 2022-2023. She is also editor of Alta Journal‘s California Book Club.
